Creating a New Style Map

This topic provides step-by-step instructions on creating a new style map.

  1. Launch the Style Map Creation Wizard.

  2. Select the style you wish to map from the Map Style From drop-down menu.

  3. If you wish to specify a default style to which the style selected above should map if the mapping conditions are not satisfied, then select the check box for Default Map To Style and select the default style from the drop-down menu.

Note: If you do not specify a default style and if the mapping conditions are not satisfied, the style used is the one from the Map Style Fromdrop-down menu.

  4. Click Add in the Map Conditions section to select a style mapper and the mapping conditions.

  5. Select the style mapper by selecting one from the Mapper Definition drop-down menu or by clicking New Mapper Defn and searching for it.

  6. Select the style to which you need to map from the Map To Style drop-down menu.

  7. Enter a map condition in the Additional Data text field. Depending on the code defined in the style mapper, this text field can be empty or have any value.

  8. Click OK.

Note: You can add multiple mapping conditions. The order in which you add the mapping conditions in the Map Condition section is important. The mapping conditions are checked by MicroStrategy Web in the descending order so once a mapping condition is satisfied all other mapping conditions defined below it are ignored.

  9. Click Finish.

The new style map gets added under the Style Maps setting of the Web Customization Editor.
