Steps to create, view, or modify report properties

The availability of data addressing the particulars about a report allows precise identification of that report to all who use it. The steps that follow describe how to enter and modify information for that purpose using the Properties dialog box.

Prerequisite

You must have the right level of access privileges to make changes to the information in the Properties dialog. If in doubt, consult your Administrator.

To create, view, or modify report properties

  1. Open a report in the Report Editor. (How?)

  2. Select File/Properties. The Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Enter, in the Description window under the General tab, the information you desire to describe the report. If there is a description already entered in this area, you can modify it by overwriting the portions you wish to update.

System-listed items under the General tab should include the report type, the folder in which the report is located, its ID, its version, the date/time in which it was created, the date/time in which it was last modified, its owner, and the type of access granted for the information.

  4. Enter, in the Permissions window under the Security tab, the users (or user groups) that are to have access permission to the report (including the report's owner) and the privilege that each user should have (owner, view, view and modify, and so on).

Click Add to open the Select Developer Users and Groups dialog box, which contains a list of all users and user groups in a project, and from which you can select users for this report-property set. Click OK to save your changes and return to the Properties dialog box.

  5. As necessary, click Delete to remove user-related information already entered in the Permissions window.

  6. As applicable, click Ownership to transfer ownership of the report from its current owner to a new one.

  7. Enter, under the Long Description tab, a description of the report. This information should be sufficiently detailed to assist those who access the report in understanding the purpose and nature of its contents.

  8. Click OK when you are done. Your changes are saved and the Properties dialog box closes.
