Creating Autostyles for documents

An Autostyle is a collection of formatting properties saved for various control types (text fields, lines, and so on). When you apply an Autostyle to another document, the system copies formatting information from the Autostyle onto the target document. It replaces formatting properties for all sections and controls (including Grid/Graphs) on the target document with the corresponding properties in the Autostyle. An Autostyle affects only the current layout of a multi-layout document.

You can use the Autostyles provided by MicroStrategy or create custom Autostyles to meet your reporting requirements. If you design a document with a look or style that you like, you can reuse its formatting as an Autostyle.

To create an Autostyle

  1. Edit the document with the desired formatting. How?

  2. Select Save As from the File menu.

  3. Navigate to the Public Objects\Autostyles folder.

Documents saved in the AutoStyles folder are still documents, and not Autostyle objects. Saving the Autostyle document in the AutoStyles folder allows you to select the Autostyle document when you create a document using the Document Wizard. An Autostyle document saved elsewhere is not available to the Document Wizard.

  4. Type a name for the document and click Save.
