Applying user-defined subtotals to metrics
Create a user-defined subtotal to fulfill any subtotal requirements that cannot be resolved by the subtotal functions provided by MicroStrategy. After you create it, you must apply the user-defined subtotal to metrics. Then the user-defined subtotal can be used on any report that uses one of those metrics.
You can apply user-defined subtotals to metrics in either of the following ways:

To apply a subtotal to one or more metrics, follow the procedure below.

To make multiple subtotals available to a single metric, use the Metric Editor, as described in Making subtotals available to a metric.
To apply a user-defined subtotal to a metric

If you are not already working with a user-defined subtotal in the Subtotal Editor, do one of the following:

Open an existing user-defined subtotal. How?

Create a new user-defined subtotal. How?

Select Apply to Metrics from the Tools menu. The Select Metrics dialog box opens.

From the list of Available objects, select the metric or metrics with which to associate the subtotal.

Click the right arrow to move them to the Selected objects column.

Click OK. After the subtotal has been applied to the selected metric(s), a dialog box opens verifying that the metrics were modified.

Click OK. You are returned to the Subtotal Editor.

Click Save and Close. You are returned to MicroStrategy Developer.
