Connect to Tableau Cloud

If you are a Tableau user and want to connect data sources from your Tableau environment to Strategy Mosaic, you can use the connectors available through your Tableau license, such as Starburst. Be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure compliance with the license terms and conditions that apply to any third-party software, services, or tools you use.

Use the Starburst Enterprise connector to connect Strategy to Tableau Cloud. This connection supports Standard and LDAP authentication types.

Prerequisites

  • You must have the Use Universal Access and Use Application Tableau privileges.

  • Cognitive search index must be enabled. For more information, see Cognitive Search.

Connect to Tableau Cloud Using Starburst

  1. In Tableau, click External Assets.

  2. Click New and Create Workbook.

    The Connect to Data dialog displays.

  3. Click Connectors.

  4. Find and select Starburst Enterprise by Starburst.

  5. In General, type your Server path. This should be your Strategy environment URL. For example, xxxxxx.cloud.microstrategy.com.

  6. In Port, type 443.

  7. In the Authentication drop-down list, choose Username and Password.

  8. Type your Username and Password.

  9. Select the checkbox next to Require SSL.

  10. Click Sign In.

  11. Expand the Catalog and Schema drop-down lists and choose your environment and project.

  12. Double-click a table and click Sheet 1 at the bottom of the window.

  13. Double click your data to add it to your sheet and view your Strategy data.
