Properties and Formatting Dialog Box: Color and Lines

You can format the color and borders of your control, shape, or line using the following Color and Lines options in the Properties and Formatting dialog box. Follow the instructions below to modify color and lines:

Shape and Line Options

The options available in the Color and Lines section of the Properties and Formatting dialog box when formatting a shape or line are described below:

  • Fill: Specify the following to determine how the control is formatted.

    If DHTML is disabled, you cannot create custom colors in the color picker or apply gradients.

    • Color: Specify a color with which to fill the selected object by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color.
      • Access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
      • Apply a color gradient, which is a combination of two colors, to the object. To do so, click the Gradients button. In the Gradients dialog box that opens, select the two colors to use for the gradient. Then select a shading style in which to display the gradient to determine the direction in which the two colors are blended together.
  • Line and Shape Settings: Available for rectangles. For a rounded rectangle, the settings are applied in Flash Mode. Flash Mode is available only if your document was created before MicroStrategy 10.1 and was defined to display in Flash Mode. Beginning with 10.1, Presentation Mode replaces Flash Mode.
    • Style: Specify the style of line.
    • Color: Specify a color with which to fill the selected object by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color.
      • Access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
      • Apply a color gradient, which is a combination of two colors, to the object. To do so, select the Gradients button. In the Gradients dialog box that opens, select the two colors to use for the gradient. Then select a shading style in which to display the gradient to determine the direction in which the two colors are blended together.
    • Weight: Specify the thickness of the lines.

Button Options

The options available in the Color and Lines section of the Properties and Formatting dialog box when formatting a button are described below:

  • Fill: Specify the following to format the button's color.

    If DHTML is disabled, you cannot create custom colors in the color picker.

    • Style: How the color is applied to the button. The options are:
      • Flat
      • Glossy
    • Normal state color: The normal state is displayed before the user taps the button. Specify the button's color by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color. You can access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
    • Highlight state color: The highlighted (or selected) state is displayed after the user taps the button. Specify the button's color by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color. You can access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
  • Borders: Select one of the following:
    • None: No borders are displayed around the button.
    • All: Borders are displayed around the button. Specify the button's border color by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color. You can access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.

Tab Bar Options

The options available in the Color and Lines section of the Properties and Formatting dialog box when formatting a tab bar are described below:

  • Fill: You can customize the background tint of the tab bar.
    • Color: Specify the color by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color. You can access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button. You can customize the background tint of the tab bar, and the color of the selected button's icon (the highlight state).
  • Icon: The highlighted (or selected) state is displayed after the user taps the button. All buttons on the tab bar use the same color in their highlight state. When the tab bar is displayed on a mobile device, the caption and icon colors use a generic iOS format to enhance readability.
    • Highlight state color: Specify the color by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color. You can access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.

Transaction Table Options

The options available in the Color and Lines section of the Properties and Formatting dialog box when formatting a transaction table are described below:

  • Fill: Specify the following to determine the background fill of the transaction table.

    If DHTML is disabled, you cannot create custom colors in the color picker or apply gradients.

    • Color: Specify a color with which to fill the transaction table by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color.
      • Access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
      • Apply a color gradient, which is a combination of two colors, to the transaction table. To do so, select the Gradients button. In the Gradients dialog box that opens, select the two colors to use for the gradient. Then select a shading style in which to display the gradient to determine the direction in which the two colors are blended together.
  • Borders: Select one of the following:
    • None: No borders are displayed around the transaction table.
    • All: Borders are displayed around the transaction table. Specify the transaction table's border color by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color. You can access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
    • Custom: Determine whether the left, right, top, and bottom borders are displayed, and if so, the type of line and color used for each border.

Options for Other Controls

For a panel stack, you can select whether to apply the background color to the panel stack (the color is applied only to panels that are transparent) or all panels (the color is applied to all panels, regardless of whether they have a background color). You can format the background color of individual panel by using the Format toolbar.

The options available in the Color and Lines section of the Properties and Formatting dialog box when formatting a control other than a button, line, or shape are described below:

  • Fill: Specify the following to determine how the control is formatted.

    If DHTML is disabled, you cannot create custom colors in the color picker or apply gradients

    • Color: Specify a color with which to fill the selected object by clicking the arrow on the color menu and selecting a color.
      • Access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
      • Apply a color gradient, which is a combination of two colors, to the object. To do so, click the Gradients button. In the Gradients dialog box that opens, select the two colors to use for the gradient. Then select a shading style in which to display the gradient to determine the direction in which the two colors are blended together
    • Selection Color: (Available only for selectors and Grid/Graphs enabled as selectors) Specify a background color for selected items in a selector. Click the arrow on the color menu and select a color.
      • Click the Automatic button to apply the default selection color.
      • Access additional colors by clicking the More Colors button.
  • Borders: Select the type of border to draw around the control.
    • None: No borders appear around the selected object. This is the default setting.
    • All: Borders surround the selected object on all sides. After selecting this option, from the drop-down list, select a line style for the border and, from the color picker, a color.
    • Custom: Determine whether the left, right, top, and bottom borders are displayed, and if so, the type of line and color used for each border.

    You can also define the fill color or border color by typing the hex code of the required color in the Hex field.
