Creating a MicroStrategy Identity Network Overview

A MicroStrategy Identity Network is a group of users in your organization who can use MicroStrategy Badge to validate the identity of other badge holders, log into and lock/unlock computers, log into connected applications and VPNs, access connected physical resources, and interact with IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Each MicroStrategy Identity Server can support multiple MicroStrategy Identity Networks to accomodate different access policies and requirements, different roles or departments within your organization, different population types (employees, customers, visitors, etc.), event-specific badges, etc.

You can use MicroStrategy Identity Manager to create one or more networks on a given MicroStrategy Identity Server. For each MicroStrategy Identity Network you can define policies and badge requirements, enroll MicroStrategy Identity Network administrators, synchronize identity records with directories, and more.

The following links provide steps to create a MicroStrategy Identity Network and provision users to immediately access locations and resources using MicroStrategy Badge.

Manage Networks

User Management

  • User Management: After creating your MicroStrategy Identity Network, you can synchronize identity records with directories and 3rd party identity management systems, batch import records from a CSV file, or manually add users one-by-one. Badge invitations can be sent automatically upon enrollment (see below) or manually anytime afterward.
  • Enabling Automatic Badge Invitations: You can enable automatic badge invitations to automatically send emails when a user is initially added to your MicroStrategy Identity Network.
  • Editing and Removing Users: After you have invited users to your MicroStrategy Identity Network, you can edit a user's name, title, and photo, and remove users from your network.
  • Manage Admin Roles: You can change an operator’s role in MicroStrategy Identity Manager at anytime, including Master Admin, Network Admin, Approver, Helpdesk Operator, Communicator User, and more.
