Configuring MicroStrategy Identity Login for Okta

To allow Okta users to sign in by scanning a QR code with their smartphones, you must register your Okta application in your Identity Network.

The following steps contain only the information required to configure or use Okta with MicroStrategy Identity. See the Okta documentation for the latest information.

You have a type of Okta identity management and have administrative privileges for your account.

To Register your Okta Site with MicroStrategy Identity

Log into Okta and Use Your Administrator Credentials

  1. Click the Admin button on the top right corner.
  2. Click Security > Identity Providers.
  3. Click Add Identity Provider.
  4. Enter information about your organization.
  5. Download SAML metadata.

Configure Okta Application

  1. Log into MicroStrategy Identity Network Manager.
  2. Click Logical Gateways.
  3. Under Web Application Login, click More, then click Okta.
  4. You can change the image that is displayed on your Okta login page. Next to image preview, click Import An Icon. Select an image to display, then click Open.
  5. In the Enter Display Name field, enter a name to display on your Okta login page. The name can be up to 30 characters long.
  6. Click IDP Certificate to download the MicroStrategy Badge certificate (for example, saml2.crt). Note the location on your computer where the certificate is saved.
  7. Note the values provided for IDP Issuer and IDP Login URL. You will use this information to configure Okta.
  8. Upload Okta service provider metadata file to complete your configuration.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Select Okta from the User Management section.
  11. In the Connection Name field, enter a name for the new Connection.
  12. In the Agent Name field, enter a name for the new Agent.
  13. Click Create and Download Agent. Note the location on your computer where the installation file (for example, setup.exe) is saved.
  14. Copy the Registration code since you need it to complete the Agent configuration. Be aware that the code expires every 5 minutes.
  15. Install Okta via the .exe file you downloaded and register the new agent.
  16. Click Next.
  17. On the Configuration page, map the attributes as needed and click Save.
  18. On the Import User Groups page, select the groups you need and click Import.

When you return to the User Management page, you will see your new agent cluster.
