Search for Objects dialog box

The Search for Objects feature returns a list of objects in a project or project source that match your specified criteria. You can select objects from this list and insert them into your scripts.

Enter the string you want to search for in the Search For field, and select the project from the Domain drop-down list. You can also select the Configuration Objects domain, which searches the configuration objects in the current project source. Select the types of objects you want to search in the Object Types tree. Click Find Now to start your search.

The Search Results pane contains a list of all the objects that matched your search criteria. It has the following columns:

  • Name: the name of the object
  • Type: the type of object, such as User or Attribute
  • Folder: the location of the object in the project or project source
  • Description: a description of the object
  • Creation time: the date and time the object was created
  • Modification time: the date and time the object was last modified.
  • Owner: the owner of the object.

To insert an object into your script, select the object by clicking on it and click the Insert button.

Right-clicking in the Search Results pane brings up the following menu options:

  • Copy copies the selection to the clipboard.
  • Insert inserts the selection into the current script.
  • Export saves the results of the search as a CSV or XML file.
  • Select All selects all the items in the Search Results pane.
  • Clear Results clears the Search Results pane.

You can also clear the results of the search by clicking New Search.
