Understanding hierarchies

Most data calculation in a business reporting environment is based on the concept of levels. Hierarchies are an important part of understanding levels in MicroStrategy. To understand a hierarchy, you must first know what a business attribute (generally called an attribute) is. This section defines an attribute, describes a hierarchy, and then explains the concept of levels.
