Using SMS Long or Short Codes (Canada only)

Some cellular providers in Canada recently announced a new policy to block all application-to-person SMS traffic using long codes.

Follow these steps to enable MicroStrategy Identity to send SMS short codes instead of long codes (assuming Phone Number Enrollment is already turned on).

You must be a Identity Manager Administrator.

  1. Launch Identity Manager.
  2. Click Properties under Badge Management.
  3. Click Device Security on the left and turn on Advanced Keyword Settings under Phone Number Enrollment.
  4. Enter the keyword associated with your long code.
  5. Enter the keyword for all the US carriers that support short codes.
  6. Enter the keyword for a specific set of Canadian operators that support short code.
  7. Modify the list of Canadian operators to accept short code sent via keyword set in step 6 if necessary.
