Create a Hierarchical Attribute Filter for a Chapter

You can create a hierarchical attribute filter for a chapter.

  1. Select the chapter that contains the visualizations to filter.
  2. Drag the hierarchical attribute you want to use for filtering from the Datasets panel, to the Filter panel. The Filter panel displays the default checkbox filter style with hierarchy elements in a tree. You can expand or collapse the elements as necessary. Groups of elements can be selected or deselected with the use of shortcut buttons. Hover over the elements you want to select to view selection icons.
  3. To select a branch, along with all of its children, select the corresponding checkbox. A Refresh icon next to a branch means that any new child elements in your database are automatically included in the report. This is referred to as dynamic filtering.
  4. If necessary, you can remove all of your filter selections by clicking More next to the filter name and choosing Unset Filter.

  5. To select a branch, without selecting its children, hover over the branch and click Single Select .
  6. To select a level, click Level Select and select the appropriate levels from the pop-up dialog. A Refresh icon next to a level means that any new child elements in your database are automatically included in the report.
  7. To clear a branch selection, along with its children, deselect the corresponding checkbox.
  8. To clear a branch, without clearing its children, hover over the branch and click Single Deselect .
  9. To clear a level selection, click Level Select and deselect the checkbox that corresponds to the level in the pop-up dialog.
  10. You can search for hierarchical attribute elements using the Search box. To perform a text search across all levels, choose All Levels from the drop-down.

    To perform a text search across a specific level, choose the level from the drop-down.

  12. Enter the search text in the box and press Enter. The corresponding hierarchical attribute elements appear.
  13. Click Select All or Clear All at the bottom on the Filter panel to select or clear all filters.
  14. If necessary, you can select filter display styles that contain search boxes or drop-downs by clicking More next to the filter name and choosing Display Style > Search Box or Drop-down. Hierarchical attributes appear in a flat list for these filter display styles, so you may need to clear your checkbox selections before choosing these options.   15. If Auto-apply is enabled, click Apply.
