Create a Geospatial Service Visualization with Areas

You can create a geospatial service visualization with areas.

  1. Open a dashboard.
  2. In the top toolbar, click Insert Visualization .
  3. Choose Map > Geospatial Service .
  4. In the Datasets panel, double-click attributes and metrics to add them to the visualization. A geospatial service visualization with areas requires at least one geo attribute and one metric.

We recommend adding a secondary geo attribute to the drop zone. This helps plot common location names to the correct area. For example, there are 34 places named Springfield in the U.S., so adding State allows you to accurately map those cities.

A City, State format does not work for Area maps. Instead, add City and State geo attributes separately to the drop zone.

  5. In the Format panel, select Formatting on layer from the first drop-down.
  6. In the Type drop-down, select Area.
