High-Level Checklist to Set Up a Report Delivery System

The following high-level checklist describes what you need to do to set up a report delivery system in MicroStrategy using Distribution Services.

Understand your users' requirements for subscribing to reports and where they want them delivered.

Have administrator privileges.

Have a license to use Distribution Services.

If you use MicroStrategy Narrowcast Services, during the upgrade to MicroStrategy Distribution Services be sure to use the Migrate Subscriptions for Web Deliveries wizard. This wizard is available from the MicroStrategy Developer Tools menu. For details on each option in the wizard, click Help.

  1. Modify existing transmitters or create new transmitters according to your requirements. Distribution Services comes with default email, file, print, mobile, and FTP transmitters, but if you use these you should modify their settings to suit your environment.
  2. Modify existing devices or create new devices according to your requirements. Distribution Services comes with default devices, but if you use these you should modify their settings to suit the systems in your environment.
  3. Create contacts so users can subscribe to reports and documents.
