Template Editor menu bar options

The following Template Editor specific menu bar options are available.

Template menu

Options in this menu allow you to add data to an existing report.

  • Row allows the addition of a row to a report.

  • Column allows the addition of a column to a report.

  • Page allows the addition of a page to a report to which Page functionality has been applied.

File menu

  • Properties provides a dialog box that allows you to specify object properties for the template you are creating. Includes tabs for general information, security (access restrictions and object control), and a detailed description of the template being created.

View menu

Options in this menu allow various template components to be either displayed or hidden.

  • Show Page-by displays (on the right portion of the template) or hides the window where page names are shown when the Page-by function is used.

  • Object Browser displays (on the left portion of the template, below the Report Objects display area) or hides the entire object set for a project.

  • Shortcuts displays (on the far left edge of the interface) the Shortcut Bar containing the My Shortcuts group. This group includes shortcut icons to all project-level public objects, as well as personal folders. You can customize the Shortcut Bar by adding, renaming, and deleting groups and folders.

    The Shortcut Bar cannot be displayed unless the Object Browser is shown.

Data menu

  • Advanced Sorting provides a dialog box that allows customization of the sorting criteria in a report.

  • Subtotals provides access to the Subtotals dialog box, which enables application of engine functions on a report.

  • Attribute Display provides a dialog box that displays and allows manipulation of the elements in a selected attribute.

  • Report Data Options provides access to a dialog box that allows definition, modification, and removal of report limits, join types, evaluation order, metric aliases, and drilling options for a report.

  • VLDB Properties provides a dialog box in which you can select and manipulate VLDB properties for a report.

  • Export Options provides a dialog box that allows for the selection of a format (options include Excel, Word, Access, text files, HTML files) and a destination for exporting a report. This dialog includes the following tabs:

  • General provides options for after-export display, automatic display, destination name and location, use of associated macros, and advanced options dealing with destination specifics and error handling.

  • Appearance provides format-specific options for the display of specific report elements (title, data, headers, SQL, and so on).

Grid menu

Options in this menu allow you to customize the appearance of a report.

  • Auto Style Selected: provides a menu that allows selection of a formatting style (a combination of template colors and font type/size).

  • Open AutoStyle: accesses the Open AutoStyle dialog box that allows you to preview the display characteristics of autostyles.

  • Save AutoStyle: provides access to the various folders in a project where a selected autostyle can be saved.

  • Thresholds: provides a dialog box that allows customization of data displayed in rows or columns that contain threshold values.

  • Show/Hide Thresholds: displays or hides thresholds. This option is available only if thresholds are set for the report.

  • Display Outline Results: enables display of report information in outline form.

  • Long Names: displays or hides full titles for columns on a report.

  • Merge Row Header Cells: merges selected row headers.

  • Merge Column Header Cells: merges selected column headers.

  • Lock Row Headers: persists display of row headers when scrolling across columns in a report.

  • Lock Column Headers: persists display of column headers when scrolling along rows in a report.

  • Automatic Column Widths: switches between automatic column width mode and fixed column width mode.

  • View Column Handles: displays or hides the column handles to set column widths. This option is available only if the report is in fixed column width mode or handles have been enabled in My Preferences.

  • Options: displays the Grid Options dialog box, which allows entry of formatting conditions for banding, outline-mode display, column widths, and row heights.

Move menu

  • Move to Row: allows switching a selected column to a row in a report.

  • Move to Column: allows switching a selected row to a column in a report.

  • Move to Page-by: in a report for which pages have been defined, allows transferring data from one page to another.

  • Move Left: allows displacement of a selected report column to the left.

  • Move Right: allows displacement of a selected report column to the right.
