Setting an attribute to use its default form in a report

Attribute forms are identifiers or descriptors of an attribute. Just as an element is a distinct occurrence of an attribute, a form defines the attribute. For example, if Chicago is an element of the attribute City, then a form for the Chicago store is a URL, such as www.chicago.com, or an abbreviation such as CH.

The default form is the attribute form that was chosen when the attribute was created. By default, the default form is displayed on the report. If another form has been displayed (for directions, see Steps to modify attribute display), you can return to the default form.

To display an attribute's default form

  1. Run a report. (For steps to run a report, see Running a report.)

  2. From the Data menu, choose Attribute Display. The Attribute Display dialog box opens.

  3. From the Attribute drop-down list, select the desired attribute. The display options change to reflect the current settings.

  4. Select the Use the attribute's default display settings check box.

  5. Click OK. You are returned to the report.
