Specifying security conditions for a filter

If you save filters in a system-level folder, that is, a folder shared by other users of the system, it is necessary to specify the level of access users or user groups can have for using a given filter. For example, some users may have read-only privileges for using a filter, while others may have read-and-modify access for the same filter.

Prerequisite

You must have the required permission level to perform the steps listed below. For more information, contact your project administrator.

To enter or modify security conditions for a filter

  1. In MicroStrategy Developer, double-click the filter to add security to. The Filter Editor opens.

  2. From the File menu, select Properties. The Properties dialog box for the filter opens.

  3. Click the Security tab.

  4. Click Add. The Select Developer Users and Groups dialog box opens, displaying all identified users and groups.

  5. Select the user(s)/

    You can choose multiple objects by pressing CTRL or Shift while selecting the objects.

  6. Click OK to return to the Properties dialog box.

  7. If you want different users or groups to have different access permissions, select the access permission type for each user/group from the drop-down list in the Object column.

  8. To change ownership of the filter definition, select the Take ownership of the selected object check box.

  9. Click OK to return to the Filter Editor.
