Editing a drill map for an object

The following instructions describe editing the drill map associated with an object while you are editing that object. You can only make changes directly related to the selected object, such as associating the object with an existing drill map or creating a new drill map for the object. To create a new drill map, see Steps to create a new drill map. To edit a drill map as a stand-alone object, see Steps to edit a drill map.

  • If an object is already associated with a drill map, that drill map is displayed when the Drill Map Editor opens. Otherwise, the Name box is grayed out and set to "Standard Drill Map", indicating that a default drill map based on the system hierarchy is being used. Once you begin to modify the default drill map, it is no longer the system hierarchy and the name changes automatically. You can edit this preset name. When you save your changes, a new drill map is created.

  • When the Drill Map Editor is accessed from another editor, the Origin list does not appear in the Drill Map Editor. However, if the original object is a template or report, it is available, displaying the report's children objects so you can edit the drill maps for each child. You can always view or hide the Origin list by selecting View Origin List from the View menu.

To edit a drill map for an object

  6. To return to the system hierarchy drill map, click Remove Association.

  7. To reverse modifications made since the drill map was saved last, click Reset.

  8. When you are finished with the drill map, click OK. Your changes are saved and the Drill Map Editor closes.
