Editing a filter

Once you create a filter, you can modify the qualifications of the filter or add more qualifications to it.

1. Double-click the filter to edit. The Filter Editor opens.

2. To modify an existing qualification, follow the steps below:

   • Double-click the qualification in the Filter definition pane. The appropriate qualification pane for the qualification type opens.

   • Make any necessary changes, then click OK to return to the Filter definition pane.

3. To add a new qualification, follow the procedure for the type of qualification to create:

   • Add an Attribute qualification filters on an attribute form (such as ID or description) or on elements of the attribute. For further instructions, see Steps to create an attribute qualification.

   • Add a Set qualification allows you to build one of the following:

   • Metric qualification creates a set of attributes based on the metrics associated with those attributes. For further instructions, see About metric set qualifications.

   • Relationship qualification creates a set of attributes based on the relationships between the attributes. For further instructions, see About relationship set qualifications.

   • Add a Shortcut to a Report uses an existing report as a filter in another report. For further instructions, see Creating a shortcut-to-a-report qualification.

   • Add a Shortcut to a Filter uses an existing filter, within a new filter qualification, as a base to add more conditions to further refine the new filter. For further instructions, see Creating a shortcut-to-a-filter qualification.

   • Add an Advanced qualification allows you to build one of the following:

   • Custom expression allows you to create custom expressions and filter on the result. For further instructions, see Steps to create a custom expression qualification.

   • Joint element list allows you to choose attribute elements from different attributes to filter the report result set. For further instructions, see Steps to create a joint element list qualification.

4. Qualifications in a filter are evaluated in the order in which they appear, with the qualifications at the top of the filter being evaluated first. Qualifications that are grouped and indented to the same level are evaluated together. To change the evaluation order of qualifications, follow the instructions in Changing the evaluation order of qualifications in a filter.

5. Multiple qualifications in a filter are combined with set operators, which govern the interaction between the qualifications. To change operators between qualifications, follow the instructions in Operators for multiple qualifications.

6. To remove a qualification from a filter, right-click the qualification that you want to delete, and select Remove.
