Strategy ONE

Add a Filter While Viewing a Dashboard

Starting in Strategy One (March 2025), you can add attribute filters to the Filter Data panel while you are viewing a dashboard in Library, not only while editing it. This allows you to create personalized data views and focus on specific sets of data without needing help from a dashboard author. These personal filters create a streamlined workflow that improves data interactivity and flexibility. Personal filters and their selections are saved if the Library view opens with the last viewed dashboard, although you can remove the personal filters. Personal filters are available for filtering in Library Mobile; you cannot add new personal filters in Library Mobile.

Starting in Strategy One (April 2025), you can add new personal filters in Library Mobile, for both iOS and Android.

If personal filters have been enabled, the Add Filters icon displays in the panel's toolbar, as shown below. Enable the feature in the Dashboard Properties Dialog.

When you add a personal filter to a page, it applies to all pages in that chapter. If another chapter already contains the same chapter filter and it is synchronized, the personal filter is also synchronized. Synchronized chapter filters are also referred to as global filters, since they apply across multiple chapters. Changes you make in a global filter synchronize to any chapter that contains the same filter. Global filters display with the Synchronized icon .

Add a Personal Filter

Prerequisites:

  • Personal filters must be enabled for the dashboard on the Dashboard Properties Dialog.

  • The chapter you want to filter must already contain a filter, which can be either an attribute or a metric filter. Beginning in Strategy One (April 2025), you can add a personal filter to any chapter, even if it does not already contain a filter.

  1. In Library, click a dashboard to open it.

  2. Click the Filter icon .

  3. Click Add Filters , which displays a list of attributes in the dashboard.

If the Add Filters icon is not displayed, personal filters have not been enabled for this dashboard.

  4. Select the attribute to filter on and click Add.

The new personal filter displays in the Filter panel and is available to use. You can add more personal filters by repeating the steps above.

Remove Personal Filters

Personal filters and their selections are saved if the Library view opens with the last viewed dashboard.

To remove personal filters, reset the dashboard to its original view. Resetting clears dashboard manipulations like drilling, using selectors, or adding personal filters.

  1. While viewing a dashboard, click Reset and select Yes.

If the dashboard contains a prompt, you must answer the prompt.
