Using Multiple Directories When Adding Users

If you have multiple directories you want to import data from, you will need to merge that data.

One of the major challenges associated with merging data sources is deconflicting data - recognizing records that belong to the same identity and then taking appropriate action (overwriting one with another at the record level, overwriting individual fields, true field-by-field merging of data to form a composite record, etc.).

Follow these steps to determine the order of precedence when you have multiple directories.

  1. Follow the instructions to connect to each Identity Management System.
  2. Click the Manage Precedence button next to Manage Users.
  3. Drag and drop the agent connections names in to the order that reflects the precedences of agent connections.
  4. Click Save.

If the same user name is found among multiple agent connections, the Identity server will refer to the precedence list to import from the highest identity management system.

Once synchronization is complete, you will see a message if there are errors and duplicate names. Click on the message to review the list.
